 “Flower Immersion ”

Galina Schevchenko is a Russian artist living in Chicago. Galina created this piece for the MOD 70s show. She animates by layering her drawings with photographs and video footage. The pieces are breathtaking and sumptuous. Galina is a recent MFA graduate who is making a name for herself in and outside of Chicago.

Galina holds a BA in psychology from the University of Chicago and MA from University of Illinois. She studied fine art in Moscow, Firenze, and Chicago's Art Institute. She makes paintings, prints and videos and occasionally performs as a live VJ.
Galina has exhibited in numerous shows and screenings around the city of Chicago, including Sonoteque, Rodan, Victor Hotel, Heaven gallery, Congress theatre, MCA. Two of her films were featured at New York's Red Shift Film Festival. Her prints and paintings are in private collections in USA, Russia, France, Switzerland, Germany. Galina's full time job as an Art Director and motion graphics designer at Leo Burnett Chicago keeps her busy and inspired.
