LiveBox Mission

LiveBox, a non-for profit space, utilizes Chicago and its neighborhoods as gallery, bringing new media art to the people of Chicago. LiveBox also seeks collaborative relationships with like-minded galleries and museums to create new media events.

LiveBox is a roving gallery committed to alternative movements in the arts, hot beds of innovation and experimentation. We are inspired by the innovative power of hybrids the cross-pollination of disciplines as boundaries between the arts become increasingly porous. Our intent is to create awareness and access to art movements and to provide platforms for collaboration across the arts.

LiveBox was founded in 2006 as a response to the lack of exhibition opportunities for video and new-media art. As we have grown our curatorial practice our interest in Cultural Production has taken center stage. Chicago has a long history of underground movements in the arts and an international reputation for its fringe theater and music scenes. LiveBox deploys the City of Chicago as its gallery, exhibiting in empty retails spaces, projecting on the skyline and collaborating with non-for-profit and commercial galleries.
